Questions
How do I record my screen with sound?
Keep Computer sound on and click Start recording. In the share window, switch on the audio option before you click Share. In Chrome or Edge on Windows or a Chromebook, sharing Entire screen with system audio records everything your computer plays. Sharing a browser tab with its audio works in Chrome and Edge on every computer.
Can I record my screen with audio on a Mac?
The picture works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. For the sound, use Chrome or Edge: sharing a tab with its audio always works, and Chrome 141 or newer on macOS 14.2 or newer can also share your Mac's sound with a window or the whole screen. The first time, macOS asks you to allow your browser under System Settings, Privacy & Security. Your microphone works in every browser.
Can I talk over my screen recording?
Yes. Turn on Microphone and pick yours. Your voice and the computer sound are mixed into one audio track, ready for any editor. Wear headphones so the computer sound doesn't echo into your microphone.
Will I get MP4 or WebM?
Whatever your browser records best, and the tool tells you before you start. Chrome 126 or newer, Edge and Safari save MP4 (H.264 video, AAC sound), which every editor and every social platform accepts. Firefox saves WebM, which plays in browsers and many editors. If you plan to post the video, MP4 is the safest choice.
Is there a time limit?
No. Your video stays in the browser until you download it. A 1080p recording takes roughly 45 MB per minute, so for long recordings keep some free memory and download when you're done.
Can I record my screen on a phone?
Most phone and tablet browsers don't let websites record the screen. Your phone has a recorder built in: on iPhone and iPad, Screen Recording is in Control Center; on most Android phones, Screen record is in Quick Settings.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. The recording happens in your browser and stays on your device. Nothing is sent to Selfpost or anyone else. Recordings you haven't downloaded are gone when you close the tab, so your browser asks before you leave.
